Are you always pleased to come away with three points in a game like that in Longford, played in terrible conditions?

“Yes, I think when the conditions were really poor and obviously the pitch was really poor, when you combine both of those it’s always good when you can walk away with three points.”

How did we go about breaking Longford down especially in the second half?

“It’s been the same against them all year, it’s just about being patient and wearing them down as the games goes on. Again, I thought we did that. It was just about working them and the game, for the conditions it was and the pitch, I thought we did OK. We controlled the game. Alan made a good save one on one and other than that I don’t think they had a chance, which was really pleasing. We controlled the majority of the game.”

Was it good to have Graham Burke back on the scoresheet again and to see him make an instant impact?

“We know how important Graham is for us. He’s obviously a top player and we’ve missed him the last number of weeks. It was good to get him on the pitch for a few minutes against Bohemians and then to get him for over half an hour on Saturday was good to see. He came through with no problems. We all know Graham is a goal threat for us and a top player.”

Aidomo, Joey and Chris hadn’t started a game in a good while and it was Neil Farrugia’s first start of the season. How do you feel they performed?

“I thought they all did really well considering the conditions and the pitch. It was the first game they started in quite some time, so they all did well.”

Rovers just need one more win to seal the title. Is there excitement in the dressing room to be so close to the finishing line?

“Of course, that’s what we’ve worked all year for, to put ourselves in this position to win the league and we have that opportunity tomorrow night. So, there’s real excitement but we also have to stay focused on the task in hand, which will be a difficult one.”

Finn Harps took a point here in June and beat us in Ballybofey last time out, so they certainly won’t make it easy?

“No. They beat us up there last time and deserved to beat us. They took a point from Tallaght and I’m sure they feel they should have won the game in the last minute with Sean Boyd’s header. They’re fighting for points as well, down at the other end of the table. We know it’s going to be a very difficult game, but we’ve worked from day one in pre-season to put ourselves in a position like this. We’ve got to make sure that we’re focused on that.”

Rovers moved into Tallaght Stadium in 2009 but have never clinched a league in the ground. 1994 was the last time the club did it at home (at the RDS). The opportunity to win it in front of our own fans, would that mean a lot?

“Yes, it would. We’ve spoken about it as a group. We’ve always wanted to take it to this point, a home game that gives us an opportunity to win it in front of our fans and our families. We know if we can do that tomorrow night it’ll be a special occasion.”

Ronan Finn went off injured early in Longford. How is he and is anyone else missing?

“Ronan was a little bit sore that day and in training but he’s improved a lot this week and should be available. Pico Lopes is back from suspension, but Sean Kavanagh is out.”
