As part of Shamrock Rovers FC’s continued support for inclusion, we are proud to share that we have re-opened Hooperman’s Quiet Room. We welcomed Gladiator’s Social Club for Children with Disabilities in Clondalkin to our match last Friday vs Drogheda United. The group had a great time and some used the Quiet Room when the game became a bit overwhelming for some of the kids.
Quiet rooms are a valuable resource for neurodivergent individuals with sensory processing difficulties and offer a safe and calming environment where they can regulate their sensory experiences, manage their emotions, and practice social interaction and communication.
Hooperman’s Quiet Room is available every match night, and is located on the first floor above the Event Control room of the Scoreboard building in the South East corner. Please note that this is a temporary solution until a permanent Sensory Room is installed in Tallaght Stadium. As such, unfortunately this room is not wheelchair accessible.
To use the room, we ask that parents/guardians to collect a special Hooperman lanyard from Main Reception pre-match, or on the way to the Quiet Room. The room is accessed through Gate 7. Please ask stewards for directions if in any doubt. Please note that the Quiet Room is an unsupervised area, and children must be supervised by an adult or carer at all times using the room. Please note the room is only intended for use for a short time for people to regulate. We ask people to be conscious of this and other users and not spend too long in the room.
