It was a dramatic win over a good Pat’s side on Monday. Was everyone delighted to pick up our 6th win in a row?

“It was a good win. I said on the night that I think we deserved it and when you look at it back, I still feel that way. It was important to keep the run going but I think our overall play deserved it. Pat’s had one opportunity in the game, I know they score a deflection and then a mistake from Leon. The other is off a short back pass so other than that they didn’t create an opportunity in the game. And when you look at the chances we created, we definitely deserved to win the game.”

Did you feel we were a little bit off in the first half and that was it really important to draw level when we did with Lee Grace’s header?

“Not all of it but in certain aspects we were a little bit off it in the first half. We had some initial good play and then our decision or timing of our decision to penetrate was a bit off, but I think that was only 15 or 20 minutes. It wasn’t the full half; we were OK but then in the second half I thought we were a lot better – we penetrated a lot quicker.”

Leon will obviously be disappointed with that mistake which made it 2-2 so late in the game but you must have been happy with how the team responded on the attack straight away to get in front again?

“Unfortunately for goalkeepers, when they make one mistake, it usually gets punished. The other players on the pitch can make five or six but the goalkeeper makes one and it usually ends up in the net, so it’s unfortunate for Leon. But he’ll learn from that and be better for it, I’m sure. The way we responded, I don’t think that can ever be in doubt with this team. They keep going and they’ve built up tremendous resilience, character and belief over the years.”

Was Richie Towell the driving force of that response because having already headed in a great cross by Ronan, then it’s his shot that leads to the penalty, which he calmly converts?

“Richie was very good again. He had a hand in everything good that we did on the night, in and out of possession so I’m delighted for him to get his two goals. He had a couple of half chances in the first half as well. He did really well, and he was involved in a lot of our good stuff.”

Drogheda had a good start to the season and won in Derry but they’ve only two points in seven games since then. What sort of opposition are they on Friday?

“I’ve no doubt they’ll be tough opposition like they always are. When you watch their recent games, the scoreline can be a bit misleading. Against Derry, they’ll feel they should have got at least a point out of it, if not won the game if you look at their chances. St Pat’s last week is a really tight game until the 75th or 80th minute and then they obviously concede goals. I think in a lot of their recent games the scorelines don’t really reflect the performances, so we know it’s going to be a difficult game.”

Our last three league meetings have been 1-1 draws, although we were down to 9 men in this season’s game in Louth. Are they a well organised team who often give us tight games and can the home fans help edge them out?

“They have been tight games and I’ve no doubt Friday will be the same again. They’ll come with a game plan to make it difficult. We’ve got to respect that and be ready for that. Hopefully, we can have another big crowd again. You saw against Pat’s how important they were for us, so we’ll definitely need that again in Tallaght tomorrow night.”

Aside from Alan Mannus and Dylan Watts what are our injuries and suspensions?

“Simon Power will probably be another couple of weeks. Nothing else came out of the game on Monday,  so we’re OK.”
