The club is pleased to announce that four of our Academy stars will be signing for the new WNL senior team next season; Maria Reynolds, Abby Tuthill, Jaime Thompson and Orlaith O’Mahony who all are current U19 Internationals will join Collie O’Neill’s first team squad as they begin preparations for the new season.
This is the strategic development plan for the club’s women’s section in action, bringing young girls through from U17s to U19s to Senior. This quartet of players are the first of our young players graduating from our underage WNL teams and making the step up to the first team.
O’Neill has been impressed with the quartet since his arrival at the club in October and said that “all of these young players bring different attributes to the squad; they all have tremendous technical ability and desire to play at the top level. They are already embedded into the club and appreciate the culture and professionalism that exists in the club. I am really looking forward to helping them take the next step in their careers.”
SRFC Head of Women’s football Jason Carey is also looking forward to seeing the players play at the highest level saying “these players have been here for a few years and have worked relentlessly towards getting this opportunity. The club is immensely proud of the breakthrough that these young players are about to make. It’s a massive boost for everyone at the Academy to see these players being part of the first team set-up.”
